A Life Beyond Gambling
Maybe you know deep down that a life without gambling is what you really want, but no matter how hard you've tried, stopping feels impossible.
Perhaps you've already managed to stop, but you're finding recovery harder than you expected, with urges and difficult feelings surfacing now that gambling isn't there to absorb them.
Whichever place you find yourself in, you don't have to do this alone.
Lasting recovery is possible and the right support can make all the difference.
Therapy for Gambling Addiction: How I Can Help…

Still gambling but feeling ready and committed to stopping?
You've tried to stop gambling before by going to GA meetings, installing blocking software or perhaps through sheer determination. None of these steps have helped for long and you don't fully understand why. We look at what's really driving the gambling, not just the behaviour on the surface, so change has a chance of lasting.

In recovery and finding it harder than expected?
You've done the hard work of stopping gambling and the honeymoon period is over. The urges haven't disappeared and feelings you used to numb with gambling are surfacing instead. We work on understanding what's fuelling those feelings, so you can feel steadier without needing gambling to cope.

Wanting to understand and resolve the trauma underneath?
For many clients, gambling started or took hold around a difficult or painful experience. Looking at what's underneath can explain why recovery feels harder than it should and what might be needed to heal. I use EMDR to help you process these experiences, so the memories carry less weight and gambling is no longer needed as a way to cope.
A bit about me…
I'm Kira Bradbeer, an integrative therapist and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I've worked therapeutically with people affected by gambling for over thirteen years, including almost ten years delivering gambling rehabilitation programmes in residential and retreat settings.
For the past eight years, I've worked in private practice, offering online therapy, including specialist trauma therapy where past experiences are still affecting someone's present.
I draw on person-centred therapy, EMDR, emotion-focused therapy, CBT and mindfulness-based CBT, and tailor the approach to you rather than fitting you into one model.
