About Kira Bradbeer — Online Gambling Addiction Therapist (UK)
Hi, I’m Kira. I’m an Integrative Therapist based in the UK, specialising in online therapy for gambling addiction. For over a decade, I’ve helped people stop gambling and find emotional stability in their recovery.
Most of the people I work with find themselves in one of two places:
Those who are still gambling and are desperate to stop, but are finding that nothing seems to be working longer term.
Those who have stopped gambling, but are finding that recovery feels harder than they imagined and are struggling to cope with life without it.
Whatever place you find yourself in right now, you’re not alone – and therapy can help.
When you’re still gambling…
How many times have you reached rock bottom with your gambling and told yourself ‘I can’t go on like this’? Perhaps, you’ve managed to stay away from the bookies or avoid those online slots for a while, but you always end up returning to gambling and you really don’t understand why.
You’re coming to realise willpower alone and installing the odd gambling blocker here and there is simply not enough to stop you from falling back into your old gambling habits.
The problem is you’ve tried getting help before, but the thought of sitting in another GA meeting speaking in front of all those people feels excruciating, and the Therapists you’ve seen previously just don’t get gambling addiction and they don’t get you.
You’re feeling ready to stop gambling for good, but you’re lost, and you don’t know who to turn to for support.
When recovery feels harder than you expected…
You’ve worked yours socks off to stop gambling and you’ve entered the new world of recovery.
You felt great when you first stopped gambling, but now the honeymoon period is over. The everyday stresses of life remain and are often just as difficult to handle, if not worse now you don’t have gambling as an emotional crutch to lean on.
To make things even more difficult, through the recovery process so far, you’ve begun to realise there were reasons why you turned to gambling in the first place and you have a sneaking suspicion those past experiences are fuelling some of the strong emotions you’re struggling with today.
Although you’re in recovery, real life and old struggles haven’t disappeared and you’re coming to realise the hardest part wasn’t stopping gambling after all – it’s coping with life afterwards.
Therapeutic Support for Gambling Addiction and Recovery
Professional Background and Experience
Kira Bradbeer is an Integrative Therapist and Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She has been working therapeutically with people who feel they have been harmed by their relationship with gambling for over 12 years.
This has included 10 years of delivering gambling rehabilitation programmes in residential and retreat settings to people struggling with gambling. From the many clients Kira’s worked with, she has developed the specialist knowledge and expertise in understanding how to support people to stop gambling and regain control of their lives. Across her career, she has had the privilege of helping people achieve what they once felt would be impossible – saying goodbye to gambling and establishing a gambling free life.
For the past 7 years, Kira has also been working in private practice, offering online psychological therapy to people who are already on the road of gambling recovery, but are finding this is emotionally overwhelming and challenging to navigate. She aims to support people to better understand and cope with their emotions, so they can build confidence in themselves to handle the ups and downs of life.
Through her private practice work, Kira also offers specialist trauma therapy online, particularly for people in gambling recovery who find past experiences are affecting their present. By helping her clients understand their trauma and work through their trauma memories, Kira has found many clients feel emotionally lighter as their nervous system releases what has been held within, making the road of gambling recovery far easier to navigate.
